Vladimir Putin pays a tribute of respect to the memory of Islam Karimov

Ceremonies devoted to the bright memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, are continuing.

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, arrived in Samarqand on 6 September.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met the high-profile guest at Samarqand international airport.

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, laid flowers at the grave of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, and paid a tribute of respect to his memory.

The head of state of the Russian Federation visited the Forums Complex in Samarqand and expressed deep condolences to Islam Karimov’s spouse, Tatyana Karimova, and his daughter Lola Karimova-Tillayeva.

In the Forums Complex, a meeting took place between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.

Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia is developing consistently on the basis of the Treaty on strategic partnership, dated 16 June 2004, and the Treaty on allied relations, dated 14 November 2005.

This bilateral cooperation is of a multi-faceted and effective nature. Intergovernmental and interdepartmental ties serve as an important factor in the implementation of agreements reached at top-level meetings.

The countries also fruitfully cooperate within such international structures as the UN, the SCO and the CIS.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, expressed gratitude to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, for the visit to Uzbekistan with the goal of paying a tribute of respect to the memory of the Uzbek nation’s outstanding son, the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, and emphasized that this was evidence of Vladimir Putin’s high regard for Islam Karimov and the people of Uzbekistan.

It was especially noted that Uzbekistan would continue and further strengthen the relations of strategic partnership between the two countries, the foundations of which had been laid by Islam Karimov and Vladimir Putin.

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, especially emphasized that the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, did a great deal of work for Uzbekistan, for the wellbeing of his people, ensuring peace and stability at the most complicated time for the country, which served for the development of the country. V. Putin specifically emphasized that Russia is a proponent of the continuation and development of cooperation between the two states.

During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on issues of further strengthening the cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation in various spheres.

With this, the visit of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to Uzbekistan concluded.
